Mama Mia!

Where to get the best pasta, pizza, Italian sorbet, tiramisu and expresso in the Bronx? Little Italy on Arthur Avenue, of course! My first stop this afternoon was the wonderful, Zagat-rated Uberto’s Clam House, where I dived into a huge plate of mussels in a delicious broth of white wine and garlic, all the while listening to vintage Italian music and watching a documentary about classic cinema on one of three large screen TV’s. The manger says the typical crowd is a good healthy mix of local residents, Manhattanites, Fordham University students and, of course, tourists (many from Italy). Next, I headed over to the famous Arthur Avenue Cafe (recently featured on Throwdown with Bobby Flay.) After enjoying a cappucino and a lemon repieno. I walked over to the Ciccarone Park and enjoyed a little rest while watching men play bocce ball and children running through a cooling off fountain. A lovely afternoon…

My friends and I checked out Arthur Ave Cafe based on your suggestion. It was wonderful - great atmosphere, cozy and desert to die for! Thanks for the great site. We look forward to another trip to the Bronx (we’re from the city). Keep the suggestions coming. Thanks!
