About

Posing for an article in The New York Daily News about why I moved to The Bronx.
(Waiting to get the rights to the photo so I can get rid of those annoying watermarks)

Originally from Ojai, California I have been lucky enough to call NYC home since 1992. Having rented on the Upper East and West Sides of Manhattan and the uber-hip Williamsburg, Brooklyn, I’ve experienced first-hand the ever escalating rents and real estate prices in “prime” areas of the city. And I simply refuse at this stage of my life to pay an outrageous amount of money to live in a cramped, tiny and often-subpar space, all the while paying somebody else’s mortgage. I don’t care how “hot” or “hip” the nabe is! So, how does that translate into a move to (GASP!) The Bronx, you ask…

Well I’d be happy to tell you…Having bought and sold (and enjoyed a nice profit from!) a home in a “transitional” section of Montclair, New Jersey in the past, I know the value of investing in an area before everyone else “pounces.” After a year of searching specifically for an affordable home that was sure to gain in value, The Bronx (due to it’s natural beauty, rich history and close proximity and easy commute into Manhattan) had me at hello!  It’s so great to see all that is going on and the diverse group of people moving to the community every month…inlcuding many people just like myself – former Manhattan-ites, SICK AND TIRED of out of control prices! Come on people, say it loud and proud: ”We’re just not gonna take it anymore!”

So Parkchester, here I am! And proud to be part of The Bronx Renaissance!

Other stuff: Besides dabbling in the wonderful world of photography, I also enjoy traveling the world, diving, classic cinema, antiquing, gardening and spending as much time as I can at my other home-away-from-home: beautiful East Tennessee (ah, that’s fodder for another photo blog one of these days!)

So that’s my story.  I hope you like the photos in this site as much as I loved going out and shooting them!
